Recently, Wenzhou Municipal People's Congress made a detailed investigation on the remediation of heavy pollution and high energy consumption industries, and made field visits to Longwan, Yueqing and other places. As a heavy polluting synthetic leather industry, DOP and stabilizers containing heavy metal elements such as lead and cadmium need to be added in its production process, which are difficult to degrade and easy to cause environmental pollution, so it has been banned in developed countries. Therefore, according to the regulation requirements, production lines in Wenzhou will be cut by more than 30% by the end of June this year and by more than 50% by the end of December 2015. According to the data, the production capacity of synthetic leather in Longwan District accounts for nearly 80% of Wenzhou City. There are 84 synthetic leather enterprises and 311 production lines in the district. At present, Longwan District is carrying out rectification and tackling key problems. A total of 82 production lines of 23 enterprises have stopped production, accounting for 26% of the production lines in the district.

Natural leather has a strong performance advantage, but its future development will be troubled by the shortage of raw materials and the increase of manufacturing costs due to environmental pollution, so it is inevitable to take the road of high-end products. In order to narrow the gap between microfiber synthetic leather and natural leather, the basic way is to improve the intrinsic properties of microfiber synthetic leather, rather than simple imitation of appearance. China's leather industry not only includes the processing of natural leather, but also relies on the huge scale of leather products. The complementary advantages of natural leather and microfiber synthetic leather contribute to the sustainable development of leather industry. Based on the price of superfine fiber synthetic leather and the advantages of industrial continuous production, it can solve the problem of shortage of natural leather raw materials, and can be used as a substitute for medium and low-grade natural leather materials. Natural leather and superfine fiber synthetic leather will produce certain competition in the development process, rather than the inevitable opposite. The final result is complementary advantages and mutual promotion.
