At present, "green" flame retardant is the trend, for example, silicon flame retardant system, which is a non halogen, low smoke, low toxic flame retardant, and silicon resources are very rich, so this kind of flame retardant is very promising. Similarly, boron based and phosphorus based flame retardants have their own remarkable advantages.

However, things have two sides. The more high-end flame retardant, the higher the cost of the super fiber skin with flame retardant performance. Therefore, how to balance the flame retardant performance and cost will be a long-term problem.
